Rumor Has It

Ben (Alex Mack) and his girlfriend Elizabeth (Athena Anderson) are having a conversation when Elizabeth suddenly receives a strange text message from an unknown number: "Hey, just thought you should know... your boyfriend is cheating on you. I saw him kissing another woman last night. Elizabeth scoffs, because SHE was with Ben last night. She shows it to Ben and they figure it must be a fake number, especially since neither of their names are mentioned in the text. However, as the weeks go by, Elizabeth continues to receive messages claiming that Ben is cheating on her, this time using their names and mentioning specific details like Elizabeth's favorite restaurant. After all, this is not a fake issue. The accusations of deception are clearly false, as they occur in Elizabeth's time. Although she tries to block the number that sends her the messages, the message continues to be received from another number. The police are totally ineffective. Elizabeth is angry and paranoid. She demands that Ben explain to her if he is cheating on her. Ben seems shocked and insists that he is innocent. After Elizabeth leaves, Ben's best friend Allison (Cali Caliente) drops by. Allison confesses that she has been attracted to Ben for a long time and is sure that he has sent her signals that he feels the same way, but hasn't had the courage to take a step forward. He says he's flattered and admits that over the years he's sometimes considered it, but it was never the right time. Allison reminds him that he is in a serious relationship with Elizabeth and that things are getting more serious since they moved in together. He doesn't want to jeopardize that. He is surprised that Allison would bring this up now, especially since Ben has spoken with Allison several times over the past few weeks about his and Elizabeth's recent difficulties with someone trying to break them up with nasty rumors - he would have thought she would be more attentive to his relationship when they have recently gone through hell.Allison then reveals that SHE is the one who has been sending messages to Elizabeth claiming that Ben is cheating on her. Ben is shocked and betrayed, and demands to know why she would do such a terrible thing - why is she trying to set him up?! Allison says she wanted to show Ben that Elizabeth doesn't deserve him...just look at how jealous and suspicious Elizabeth acts, even though he has a solid alibi every time. Ben finds it shocking and disturbing that Allison would do such things for HIM. Allison insists, however, that they did it because she loved him. Now they can be together, and she will treat him with the love and respect he deserves. And unlike Elizabeth, Allison doesn't want Ben to be held on a leash and committed only to her, in fact Allison wants to give Ben the freedom to do what he wants when he wants, selflessly like a REAL friend. Can't he see that? Allison is now able to have any woman he likes without fear.
